GreenM3 Traffic 2.5x 6 months ago on TypePad, now on SquareSpace

Part of the fun running the Green (Low Carbon) Data Center Blog is I get data on what topics are interesting.  One of things I check is what the overall site traffic is.  When I switched to SquareSpace from TypePad  six months ago, I was hoping for more traffic.  2.5 times more than six months ago is a pleasant surprise.  Feb 2011 about 20,000.  Aug 2011 about 50,000.  (Note Sept is only 20 of 30 days in the below metrics.)

Below is a dashboard snapshot.

Thanks for reading GreenM3.

50,000 Page Views in last 30 days

I was watching the traffic on this blog and if I count over the past 30 days, not a calendar month (july, aug, etc) I just hit 50,000 views.

The feedburner metrics are another 13,000 or so views, but for the last 30 days the metrics are skewed based on my post on the org charts of Google, Facebook, Oracle, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft.

Green Data Center Blog traffic almost 50,000 views a month

A few months ago I decided to change some ideas I was focusing on.  Part of any change normally you would worry about how it affects the traffic to your blog.  I purposely don't worry about the traffic as much as writing on things that I find interesting for my research, clients and just plain curiosity.  Frequently , I look at the traffic to see what people find interesting.

Yesterday I was watching my traffic as July 31 numbers for my blog looked like I would hit 50,000 views.  I got so close.  Note: I switched from TypePad to SquareSpace hosting in Feb which is why the Sept - Jan numbers are at 0.image

The exact numbers for Feb to July are.

I expect August to be lower traffic with summer holidays for Northern Hemisphere readers.  Here are the top 25 cities that hit my blog.

Thanks for visiting The Green (Low Carbon) Data Center blog.  I should  hit over 50,000 views by end of year.

Being Faster creates more traffic than Quality, Uptime Institute one month after Symposium posts videos

Uptime Institute has posted more videos a month after their Symposium event. http://www.youtube.com/user/uptimeinstitute

After only one day there is single digit traffic on the most recent posts.

image

Videos that have been out for 5 days have 10 - 20 views.

One video that got up sooner and has more traffic is Matt Stansberry interviewing Gary Cook with 186 views, 187 now that I watched it.

If you are going to post content most of time speed beats quality.
